This beautiful drape-molded oval platter was made by Garine of Kulina Folk Art. This one-of-a-kind piece showcases a  coggled edge and is skillfully adorned with a charming stamped motif. Crafted with utmost care, the artist uses a combination of black and white slips to create a stunning contrast. A lead free glaze adds a lustrous finish to this platter, measuring approximately 14.50" x 11". The intricate process begins with a slab of clay which is carefully molded into its shape. White slip is then applied, followed by the delicate decoration with black slip. Once dried, it undergoes a bisque firing to preserve its form. A second firing is meticulously carried out after the application of the glaze. To truly accentuate its unique character, an antiquing finish is applied to the unglazed surfaces. This artful platter will undoubtedly make a statement and bring a touch of rustic elegance to your home decor.

Welcome to our shop and our exquisite hand-made redware pottery! Crafted with care using our special blend of clays from various regions across the United States, each piece is a testament to our dedication to quality and color control. Rick employs the traditional art of slip trailing, adorning these pots with a variety of clay colors. Meanwhile, Garine employs the sgraffito and stamping techniques, creating intricate patterns by unveiling the vibrant red clay underneath the yellow slip. Fired twice for durability, our pots showcase a delightful, slightly aged appearance with subtle glaze crazing. As a charming touch, our plates bear the adorable paw prints left by our beloved Siamese cat, Ashby.
~ While our redware pottery is not immune to extreme temperature changes, our pie plates and baking dishes can be used for baking when gradually warmed.
~ Platters and plates are best served at room temperature or slightly warmed before presenting hot delicacies.
~ Please note that redware, by its nature, retains some porosity. While it can hold liquids for short periods, we do not recommend long-term storage.
~ If you use our redware as a vase, we suggest placing a liner inside to safeguard your furniture.
Thank you for welcoming our products into your home – they are sure to enhance any space with their charm and craftsmanship.
